Is Life Plus still a leader in health and wellness?

You know all those annoying people on your Facebook feed selling miracle weight loss programs and pills that will cure everything from heart failure to a broken heart?

Life Plus pretty much started that, before Facebook even existed. They were one of the first companies to market nutraceuticals to the masses.

So have I been involved?

This video explains:

All good? Let’s continue…

Overview

V.M. Nutri Company was founded way back in 1936 in Batesville, Arkansas by J. Robert Lemon and William T. Evans. [1]

In 1992, they shifted into the world of direct sales and renamed themselves as Life Plus. By 1998 they had already amassed 500k+ members and branched into the now wildly popular markets of weight loss and skincare with Slender Now and Forever Young product lines. [2]

Their current CEO is Robert Christian, and he’s been CEO for 10 years now. Before he joined Life Plus in 2006, he was Senior Vice President at a dental products company called Professional Dental Technologies for a whopping 23 years. [3]

Not exactly your typical MLM executive background, but it’s refreshing to see someone with a lot of experience outside the field, especially when most MLM CEOs have bounced around more than that chick from high school who dated the entire football team. Being a direct sales “industry vet” isn’t always a good thing.

It’s hard to find information on Life Plus founder Bob Lemon, perhaps since he passed away years ago. He got his start as a pharmacist, but he started to wonder how we can truly be healthy if we’re taking prescription drugs instead of supplying ourselves with the nutrition we need to begin with. That’s what inspired him to start Life Plus.

Life Plus is a private company, so they aren’t obligated to report their revenue.

How much does Life Plus cost?
There’s no sign-up fee. But you need to generate at least 40 PV per month in monthly auto-ship orders to qualify for commission. This comes out to around $50/month.

Products

Life Plus sells nutritional supplements and nutraceutical products. Nutraceuticals are basically products derived from food sources, such as plants, herbs, and fruits, that have medicinal benefits. They’re usually manufactured to take the form of pills, shakes, and other easy-to-consume products.

Life Plus’s nutritional products fall into the following categories:

Overall Health

These products combine all of your basic nutritional needs to help you maintain your overall health.

Targeted Nutrition

These target specific health issues you might have or particular facets of your mental and physical health you’d like to improve, such as focus and mental clarity, vision, cardiovascular, digestion, strength, and skin.

Vitamins & Minerals

These products provide daily doses of all the most important vitamins and minerals your body might be missing out on.

Antioxidants

We’ve all heard the praise for antioxidants over the past decade. These products protect your cells from free radicals.

Nutrition Shakes

Their shakes come in chocolate and vanilla and are meant to both support and boost performance.

Weight Management

Their weight management programs are designed by nutrition experts to help you lose weight and keep it off.

Opportunity

Life Plus operates on a unilevel compensation plan.

There are only four ranks, which is refreshingly simple, and you get paid a leadership bonus out of their leadership bonus pool each time you reach a new rank.

  • Bronze: You have to recruit at least 3 qualified affiliates, and your downline must sell at least 3,000 GV per month. Leadership bonus for Bronze members: 3%
  • Silver: You have to recruit 6 qualified affiliates with a total of 6,000 GV per month. Leadership bonus for Silver members: 6%
  • Gold: You must have at least 9 qualified affiliates in your downline generating a total of 9,000 GV per month. Leadership bonus for Gold members: 9%
  • Diamond: You need to have at least 12 qualified affiliates with a downline of at least 15,000 GV per month. Leadership bonus for Diamond members: 12%

Retail commission is 25%, which is a little below average.

Residual commissions from the sales of your downline are on a unilevel compensation structure. It pays through three levels deep…

  • Level 1: 25% commission
  • Level 2: 10% commission
  • Level 3: 5% commission

Not bad. You don’t get paid out on many levels, but 25% residual commission on your personally sponsored affiliates is a great deal, especially if they perform well.

There are also leadership development bonuses for helping your team members move up in rank.

You can’t sit back and hope your downline builds itself, though. You’ve got to recruit hard and build up a strong team that can make lots of sales in the first 3 levels of your downline. That isn’t an easy thing to do without prior experience or training.

Recap

The compensation plan is very simple, which is almost unheard of nowadays. Most MLMs try to sell you on some “52 ways to earn and 107 ranks” gimmicky compensation plan that’s all talk. This plan actually offers substantial ways to earn money, if you’re talented.

That being said, because there are so few ways to earn, you’ve got to be very, very good at what you do. This isn’t easy money.

The plan really relies on your ability to spam every one of your Facebook friends, every family member, everyone on your contacts list until you can get enough people to buy into your schtick and join your team. Then you have to be able to train and lead those people to be equally persistent (annoying) in selling and recruiting their own team.

So, is it possible to earn money? Yes. Is it likely? No.

Referral marketing is not easy. The vast majority of people won’t ever see a dime, but at least you don’t have to put down a ton of money to join.

Bottom line is, if you like passive income streams, there are probably better opportunities out there.

In other words, you might like our training because it teaches the “good life” without peddling products to your family and friends.

    J. Robert Lemon – President of Lifeplus International is very much alive and serving us at Lifeplus well.
You didn’t mention that there are never any start-up fees, annual fees or any other costs to join or maintain your account with Lifeplus, or that we can’t sell product directly to the folks who decide to join Lifeplus. We only make money if they sign up for a free account and purchase the products they want directly from Lifeplus.
In that case we make 25% of the purchase price of their products. You say that is less than average. I would dispute that. In my experience with Mannatech, Herbalife, Amway, and some others retailing income was average of about $8 per product,
Lifeplus is in my experience one of the last great opportunity’s available to someone with little or no start up capital.
Is it easy? no, but it is easier than most of the other mlm companies. The great product line and their value to users along with a 100% money back guarantee along with no cost to join, and freedom to conduct your business they way you want make it a win-win way to build with a great support team to help you achieve a little or a lot. It is up to you.
