Do Immunotec consultants make any money?

Immunotec is a network marketing company offering solutions for flu season, along with a home based business opportunity for people who promote the company.

Now I dread flu season more than I dread tax season. Not only do I hate being sick, but I hate being surrounded by sick people.

If an MLM can come up with a product that really does boost immunity, there’s definitely a market, and that’s exactly what Immunotec is going after.

So have I been involved?

This video explains:

All good? Let’s continue…

Overview

Immunotec is based in Quebec, Canada and operating in Canada, the U.S., Mexico, the Dominican Republic, the UK, and Ireland.

They were founded in 1996 by Dr. Gustavo Bounous. I know what you’re thinking – he’s not some quack doctor with a bogus degree who sells scams. He’s an actual doctor.

This guy was a professor of surgery at McGill University back in the 70s when he developed interest in researching how dietary proteins could boost the immune system. His findings were so important that they inspired him to start Immunotec.

After Dr. Bounous passed away, Charles L. Orr became the CEO of Immunotec. This guy takes the term “industry vet” to a whole new level when it comes to MLM. He was the President and CEO of nutrition MLM giant Shaklee before become the Executive Director of the Direct Selling Education Foundation for four years. He was honored by the Direct Selling Association’s Hall of Fame in 2007.

Immunotec has definitely done well for themselves. By 2015 they were ranked on the DSN Global 100 list and hit over $84 million in annual revenue. [1] [2]

By June 2016, their quarterly revenue was up by 28% from the previous year, putting them on track to hit $100 million in revenue for the year. The company saw huge increases in emerging markets last year – 38% in Mexico and 27% in the U.S. – so it’s safe to say that international expansion is going well for them so far. Profits doubled year over year. [3]

Their overall annual revenue for 2016 significantly surpassed their goal of $100 million. Immunotec hit $109 in annual revenue last year. [4]

Products

Immunocal products were developed out of research done by Dr. Bounous into protein deficiencies and their effect on the human immune system.

Research led to the discovery of a specific whey protein that could help sustain glutathione levels, and increasing your body’s glutathione has been shown in study after study to be a great way to improve your immune system.

That’s some powerful stuff.

Their products fall into 4 different categories.

Health and Wellness

These products include Immunocal and Immunocal Platinum, the company’s signature glutathione precursor supplements. They include a range of other nutritional products such as probiotics, a daily essentials pack, omega-3 supplements, and Cogniva, chews that increase brain function.

Elasense Skin Care

Like any good wellness MLM, Immunotec eventually expanded into skincare. They now offer facial washes, moisturizers, night creams, and anti-aging products.

Weight Management

In the end, health and wellness only sell if they make you look hot and skinny. Immunotec’s weight management products include a MiForm transformation kit, meal replacement bars and shakes, and a weight maintenance kit.

Personal Care

Immunotec’s personal care line is relatively small and new. It includes a Skin Perfecting Cream and a toothpaste that promotes dental health.

Benefits:
The obvious benefit is that Immunotec’s products boost your immune system. There have even been studies suggesting that cysteine supplementation, such as Immunotec’s supplements, could even improve immune system function for patients with HIV. [5]

Side Effects:
There are no proven side effects associated with Immunotec.

Compensation Plan

There are 6 ways to earn with Immunotec.

  1. Retail Profit
  2. Customer Autoship Wholesale Profit
  3. Residual Commissions and Rank Advancement
  4. Business Builder Bonus
  5. Moving Up Bonus
  6. Upline Moving Up Bonus

Consultants purchase product at a discounted wholesale price and then sell them for a marked up retail price, pocketing the difference.

Business Builder Bonuses range from 5% if you sponsor 1 consultant in a month to 10% if you sponsor 2 and 25% if you sponsor 3. Not bad.

Residual commissions depend on rank and pay down to 8 generations deep. They range from 5% to 47% total (similar to comp plans offered by Advocare and Amway).

But the bottom line here is obvious when you look at their income disclosure statement.

A whopping 60% of their consultants make absolutely NOTHING. Not pocket change, not side money, but absolutely nothing. The next 15% earn less than $50/month. Only about 2.5% of their consultants ever make over $1,000/month. [6]

Recap

They’ve got a solid history, a great backstory, and a solid founder. Their product is pretty legit, and they’re one of the few health and wellness MLMs without any weird side effects or secret scandals.

But the numbers don’t lie.

The chances of you actually making any money with Immunotec are slim to none. You might as well go buy a lottery ticket – you’ll save yourself a lot of time and money.

There is a better way to work from home these days, and it doesn’t involve selling products to your friends and family or abusing your Facebook timeline.
